Well, it`s been awhile....

what can I say. things have been absolutley crazy here at the Pyle house or should I say houses. Yep, you read it right. Houses! We went and bought another house. Crazy thing to do in the economy huh?So, needles to say, I have not put my car on the track yet this year. It is driving me nuts being away from the track, but, Ihave to put things into perspective....I didn`t even turkey hunt this year either! Damn. The honey do list needs to be finished and we need to settle in the new place. After that it is off to the races. Hopefully it happens no later that mid July.

If there is still a downturn in the economy, I couldn`t tell it. 43-50 hour weeks at the magic kingdom that I call Pepsi. Life is good, thanks for your support! Hopefully I will have some time to post more later......some new news also!!! Stay tuned folks!!

Helio goes free.....

Most major media sources are reporting that 2-time Indy 500 winner Helio Castroneves has been aquitted on tax evasion charges. Also aquitted are his sister/business manager along with his agent. It was a hung jury on a charge of conspiracy for all three defendants. I`m sure that he is dancing his way to Long Beach as I type this. They clain that he never recieved $5 million that he was owed. If I said that I never recieved 5 bucks, I`d be in the slammer for sure.

The Awesome Twosome win again

Congratulations to the duo of 2008 NASCAR Nationwide Series Raybestos Rookie of the Year Landon Cassill and Crew Chief Rich Lushes for winning the Short Track Nationals 100 at South Georgia Motorsports Park. It appears that good things really come to those who wait as the High Perfomance Motorsports team waited through 2 days of horrible weather to get this race in. The Port City LS3 powered late model served the team well. This is the second victory of the year in the ASA ranks for the driver and crew chief combo as they struck first at New Smyrna Speedway during the 43rd Running the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing.

A new catch phrase(racing or non-racing)?

I have recently noticed a new phrase being uttered by many people that I have come into contact with. It`s no secret that our economy is in the toilet. People are reigning in their finances(or what`s left of them) and just watching what they spend. I have tried to stay upbeat and look for the positive things in our world right now, so, I try to keep things as normal as I can and try to find a common topic with those that I come into contact with. Conversations have gone from, "Are you looking forward to Turkey Hunting this spring" to "What are you doing for vacation this year" to "Did you find a  house yet". The response has been," Well, we`ll see how the money goes". I thought that it was just a few people. Turns out that everyone that I talk to is saying this very same phrase. It`s a good bet that I use this phrase about three times a week in general conversation. "Are ya gonna turkey hunt this spring Mikey"? "We`ll see how the money goes". Are ya gonna head for the beach with Lorie and the kids this year"? We`ll see how the money goes". Are ya gonna race a full season this year Mikey"? We`ll see how the money goes"?

I`m not going to get all political or anything like that. It`s just not me. Can`t stand that stuff most of the time. I really don`t think that it is as bad as it seems. Unemployment is starting to concern me. It seems that some areas are doiong ok, some are not.  I guarantee you that people are spending, they are just being a bit more cautious than in the past.

Alright, that`s enough of the non racing crap. I pick up my race car this coming Saturday! I`m excited, let`s go racing! Hope to see you all at the track! I don`t care where you go, but, SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL SHORT TRACK!

Here`s to a safe racing season 2009!

ASA Late Models

sidebysidelife.com wishes the best  to driver Landon Cassill and Crew Chief Rich Lushes as they team with High Performance Motorsports this weekend. The team will be competing in the Short Track Nationals 100 at South Georgia Motorsports Park. Cassil will be piloting the #61 Chevy Impala SS powered by the new LS3 Chevy engine. Here`s to a safe and successful weekend!

It was exactly 8 years ago today...

that we lost the Intimidator. I don`t have to put the words down here for any of us to realize who and what we have lost.  He was"The Man".

Dale, we miss ya..........

Congratulations Champ!

After a caution filled 50 lap event at New Smyrna Speedway(the final event), RPM Motorsports driver Dave Wagner has finished in second place, therefore, clinching the 2009 World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing  Championship. Dave started 13th and battled his way to second place.

After starting the race in midfield, Landon Cassill brought his Cheverolet Monte Carlo home in 6th place.

Again, congratulations to Rob Petrus, Bob Petrus, Dave Wagner, Landon Cassill, Rich Lushes, Mark Lushes and the entire RPM Motorsports crew. The team will be packing up and heading home tomorrow. We here at sidebysidelife.com wish them a safe, but speedy return to the Buckeye State!

New Smyrna Race 7.

I had the pleasure of talking with both of the RPM drivers earlier today. Dave "shifty" Wagner seemed to be happy and very humble at the same time after his win last night in the Crate late Model Division. Dave stated that he has won on several tracks like our very own Barberton Speedway, Lorain, Columbus, and the like. They came into New Smyrna with  goals of winning a race and being in the top 5.

Dave has qualified 13th for tonight`s 50 lap race. I asked Dave about his race car for tonight`s  event and he had this to say, "It`s a good race car. We have a good top 5, hopefully a win". Dave also stated, "As long as we can take the green, we should win the Championship after one lap".

I spoke briefly with Landon Cassill about his ride for tonight. When asked about his car Landon said, "We struggled a bit, but, were good in practice". Landon and his #7 Cheverolet Monte Carlo qualified mid pack next to his team mate Dave Wagner. I also asked Landon if he was good enough to take a win form his teammate. He stated, We`ll give it a shot, he`s pretty stout".

New Smyrna Race 6

I don`t have many details from today`s practice session , but, I did talk to Mark today. Dave started 2nd and Landon started 15th. I have also just learned that Dave "Shifty" Wagner has won the ASA Crate late Model Feature tonight!! Landon Cassill has finished 16th. This is all I have until tomorrow night when I talk to the team. Congratulations to RPM Motorsports on their second feature win of the week. This win is a huge relief for the team as they have had their work cut out for them . Engine changes, transmission trouble, and then a torn up rear end in Dave`s car.

We also have a points battle in the making heading into the last night of racing. Dave Wagner is sitting in second position in points and the current Leader Patrick Laperle had wrecked tonight.  Can Dave and pull this out?

New Smyrna Race 5

For those of you following the progressof RPM Motorsports and expecting results from last nights racing action. I apolgize for putting this up late. Due to the inclement weather conditions last night, it was not a good time to be online. Wth that, I got a message from Mark last night. Mark told me that Dave Wagner drew the 2nd position and Landon drew the 17th position. I don`t have any details at all, but, according to speed 51.com,  Dave "shifty" Wagner in his #98 ride took second and Landon Cassill in the #7 finished 16th. Tune in tonight for results from race 6
