New Smyrna wrap up.

As most of us were preparing for and then digging out of a record snowfall, Akron, Ohio based Rob Petrus Motorsports made the trek to New Smyrna Beach, Florida to compete in the 44th Annual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing. Drivers Rob Petrus and 2009 ASA Crate Late Model defending Champion Dave Wagner took to New Smyrna Speedway looking for victories and another Championship trophy. Florida Speedweeks 2010 proved to be far from the stellar year of 2009. The team battled cold and rainy conditions as a result of the winter storms that plagued the plain states and most of the north east.

In additon to the weather driver Dave Wagner had to fight through a bit of sickness as they prepared for the week of racing. Through the week Akron, Ohio ace Wagner qualified in the top 10 and battled in the top 5. On the last night of racing we saw Dave Wagner retiring on lap 18 with mechanical trouble.

Wednesday Race 6 at New Smyrna

After a rainout last night, the ASA Crate late Model division returned to the track. Tonight`s event saw Akron, Ohio ace Dave Wagner starting in the 6th position then working his way into the top 5. After a wild race with 3 caution flags and a fierce battle for positon in the top 5 Dave finished off the night in 8th place.

As most of us are getting buried in snow AGAIN, Akron, Ohio based Rob Petrus Motorsports gets prepared for yet another night of racing. Hopefully Dave Wagner can keep climbing up the finishing order. He will be looking to better his 6th place finish last night. Here`s to a safe night of racing.

Monday at New Smyrna

After a night off Sunday, the RPM team will return to racing tonight! Defending Crate Late Model Champion Dave Wagner will be looking to better his 8th place finish Saturday night! Let`s hope for a safe night of racing and the best of luck to Dave, Robbie and the rest of the RPM Motorsports team.

Saturday qualifying from New Smyrna

After a rain out Friday for qualifying at New Smyrna and a relaxing Friday night in the 65 degree heat, the RPM team took to the track today for qualifying. As most of us were digging out of knee deep snow, 2009 Crate Late Model Division Champion Dave"shifty" Wagner qualifyied 8th with his Chevy Impala SS. I will post an update as soon as I get it.

Friday qualifying at New Smyrna

If the weather holds out, Robbie and Dave will be hitting the track for a round of qualifying. Dave will qualify for sure and they may use Robbie`s car for a back-up(according to Robin Wagner last night). There appears to be a threat of rain in Florida as the rest of us prepare to get SNOWED in! Check back for updates from Florida and I will post again later tonight and all weekend!

RPM Motorsports return to defend their title

Akron, Ohio based Rob Petrus Motorsports will be returning this weekend to New Smyrna Speedway in Florida as they compete in 2010 World Series of Asphalt Racing. Owner/driver Petrus and defending champion late model driver Dave Wagner will look to defend their crown and bring home another championship to Ohio. Rob will be piloting the #88 Chevy Impala SS with help from father and Crew Chief Bob Petrus. Dave will be piloting the #98 Chevy Impala SS with Bob Petrus as Crew Chief. Bob, Rob and Dave will be assisted by crew members Mark Hunter, Brian Elliott and Keith Elliott.
